Respitality Central Okanagan

Respitality will involve hotels, restaurants and entertainment businesses donating services to ABCD for distribution to families who have children with special needs.

Opportunities will be given to participating families to enjoy an evening out, and to relax and rejuvenate themselves, while their child is cared for in their own home.

Families will register for Respitality through ABCD. They will then be matched with an overnight stay in a local hotel or bed & breakfast, a restaurant dinner and/or a movie or play - all graciously donated by the hospitality industry.

This program will be offered free of charge to families with children who have special needs. This program is in the planning stages.

Adopt an MLA Campaign

The Adopt an MLA Campaign is designed to bring MLAs across the province into the homes of families with children with
disabilities. A family invites an elected official for an informal visit, maybe even dinner, hoping to create a relationship and increase their MLA's understanding of one family's day-to-day challenges.

The project's goal is to bring the family and MLA together in a home, not an office. This interaction will empower the MLA to discuss, in the Legislature, issues involving children with disabilities and their families. This campaign is in the planning stages.
